Vermilion Diamonds Bandhani Scarf

Bandhani is a traditional method of tying and dyeing fabric, practiced in the Kutch region of India by the Khatri community. As this tradition flourishes, Khatri has become synonymous with one who dyes fabric. The artists of Sidr Craft are masters of the Bandhani tradition. The process begins with an artist hand drawing the design on a stencil and perforating it with holes to create the scarf’s pattern. The stencil is placed over the silk fabric and transferred with an indigo solution. Artists use this guide to pinch and tightly tie the fabric with thread, create the design from the intricate knots. Next the artists dye the fabric, to reveal the design. To finish the piece, they remove the threads and hem the seams to complete the unique, textured silk scarf.
Measures 38 inches by 72 inches, but due to the bandhani texture measurements may vary.
Care: Dry clean only, if this scarf becomes wet, the unique knotted banhani texture will be lost, but the beautiful design will remain.
