This adorable bear is handmade in Kyrgyzstan out of felt, a thick fabric produced by application of heat, water, and pressure for the meshing together of wool fibers. The women dye the felt pieces and then cut, and shape them into animals and dolls. Erekebu’s specialty is making the faces which are embellished with silk and wool embroidery and beads. She uses yarn hair to make the hair. The intricately dressed figures represent daily life and customs in rural Kyrgyzstan.
This playful bear makes for a wonderful gift or a whimsical addition to any room.
"All my products carry positive energy, because wool is a live material. I put love and positive energy into my work and people that buy my products can feel this warmth and love in every doll." -Erkebu Djumagulova, Kyrgyzstan
